Principal's Message - January 2026

Dear BMS Families,

Happy New Year! As we begin Quarter 3, Benson Middle School is fully engaged in instruction, routines, and expectations as we move into the second half of the school year. This is an important time for students to stay focused, attend regularly, and continue building strong academic habits that support their success.

We encourage families to regularly engage in conversations with students about their academic progress, behavior, and attendance. Grades are available at any time through PowerSchool, and student agendas are used daily to track assignments and homework. If your student needs a replacement agenda, they may see Mrs. Sutton. During Bobcat Advisory, students actively organize their materials, review grades, and check in weekly with their advisor to ensure they remain on track academically and socially.

Daily attendance continues to be a key expectation at BMS. Attendance is taken every period, and being on time and present directly impacts student learning. Additionally, electronic devices are expected to be turned off and stored in student backpacks by the 8:00 a.m. bell. Devices may be used again after dismissal at 3:00 p.m. Please refer to the student handbook for additional details.

We also encourage our Bobcat families to support our students by attending school events. Girls Basketball and Co-Ed Wrestling are currently in season, and families attending games will also have the opportunity to see our Co-Ed Cheer Team in action. Quarter 3 clubs, sports, and academic groups are in full swing, and event dates and locations are shared on the school website and our Facebook page. Your presence and support help strengthen our school community and promote Bobcat pride.

To kick off the new year, we invite families to participate in our January Parent–Student Challenge. This challenge is designed to promote communication, organization, and goal-setting. Families are encouraged to review the student agenda together, check current grades in PowerSchool, and help their student set one goal for Quarter 3. Students who complete the challenge with a parent or guardian will earn PBIS points and be entered into a drawing for a special treat. Additional details and the challenge form will be shared soon.

We truly value our partnership with families. Together, we will continue to support student growth, maintain high expectations, and create a positive learning environment. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our Bobcats succeed and Leave a Legacy at Benson Middle School.

Sincerely,

Mr. Webb

Proud Principal Benson Middle School
